Are you currently homebound due to illness, quarantine or injury and want to continue sessions?
Consider telehealth sessions with your Shore Neurocognitive Health provider.
We understand that often individuals become homebound due to illness, injury or perhaps quarantine. This seems to be a time you might need your therapist the most, to help deal with your anxiety, depression or general concern about your current status.
We can offer telehealth visits, meaning you can have the session with your provider at Shore Neurocognitive Health via video conferencing. This is not just a phone call with your provider. This is a face to face visit using online video conferencing. Let us explain how this works:
WHY WOULD I CONSIDER TELEHEALTH?
Sometimes it is not possible to get to our office yet you want to see your therapist. This may be due to illness, injury, or even a quarantine, exactly the time you really want to see your therapist. We can help determine if a telehealth visit is appropriate for your circumstances.
WHAT TECHNOLOGY DO I NEED?
You can use your computer, smartphone, tablet or any device that has a camera and internet service. We will send you the link to the provider clinic.
IS THERE A SPECIAL WEBSITE OR APP FOR TELEHEALTH
We will discuss with you telehealth platform options, such as Psychology Today’s Sessions or Zoom. We will send you the link to our virtual waiting room prior to your appointment, as well as instructions on set it up on your device. It is really very easy to do, we promise.
As mentioned above, you can do this on your smartphone, tablet or computer, as long as it has a camera. If you have lower bandwidth (for example are on a 3G network), we can use VSee Messenger. We can help you determine which option is best for you.*
IS THIS SECURE?
These are HIPAA compliant programs that are safe and secure to use.
DOES MY INSURANCE COVER THE VISIT?
Most insurances cover telehealth, including Medicare. You will need to check you individual benefit plan to ensure that it is covered. You will still be responsible for any co-pays or deductibles. Of course we can never guarantee payment from any insurance, but will work with you to determine if this is a benefit, or would be an out-of-pocket expense.
ARE THERE LIMITATIONS?
At this time, we only offer this for clients being seen for psychotherapy for current and new patients. Neurocognitive testing or memory screens cannot be completed during a telehealth visit at this time. We are currently able to offer telehealth to those individuals in Maryland due to telehealth regulations.
All our policies remain in place, whether in the office or via video conferencing. This includes cancellation policies. If you have questions about this, please contact us.
*Note: During the pandemic and emergency regulations, many insurance carriers, including Medicare, allow telephone sessions. Although this is not our preference, if you do not have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other technology that has video capability, we will consider a telephone session. Please note, this is ONLY available to existing clients, not for a new client session. All policies remain in place for these visits, including cancellation and no-show policies.
